The Social Media Checklist Every Author Needs

Professional Profile Picture

 

Have you ever heard the saying, "You only have one chance to make a first impression?" It's true. Invest the time and money into taking a handful of elegant, professional looking headshots to use in your profile pictures on your social media accounts. To get the most use out of these headshots, don't restrict yourself to just using these headshots for your profile pictures. Incorporate your headshots into shareable graphics with an overlaid quote such as your tagline or an attention grabbing quote from your book. Have fun with it!

 

Author Bio

 

Readers want to know about you. If you have huge accomplishments, highlight them. Don't be shy! Celebrate your excellence and showcase it through your bio. Readers want to learn from those who've already accomplished goals they're currently working towards.

Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn each allow for a different number of characters in your profile bios so make sure you pick and choose what's most important from your bio if you need to be selective.

 

Header Graphics

 

Having professionally designed header graphics that are high resolution, sized correctly for each platform, and make your book look like the masterpiece it is, will be a huge factor in whether or not someone stays on your profile to learn more about you or decided to leave your page immediately. Under no circumstances can you afford to overlook this aspect of your social profiles.

 

Link to Your Website

 

You've put so much time and effort into putting together an author website where people can learn more about you, your business, hire you, subscribe to your newsletter, etc... Make sure you include a link to your website on your social channels. It seems like a no-brainer, but with so many things going on during a book launch, there's bound to be something you'll forget. Please, don't forget your website! :)
